Looking for a weeknight out with a friend in Ansan? I started at Jungang Station on Line 4, had chicken and beer, and finished the evening with a walk near the stream.

I went on 30 September 2026. The streets felt lively even on a weekday, with plenty to see between our food stops.

Here is the route I took, with the times and prices from our night out.

The route at a glance

Jungang Station → Wonju Tongdak → Jungang Station streets and arcades → Saengmacha Ansan Jungang → Baskin-Robbins → Ansancheon Stream

For the two of us, chicken, drinks and ice cream came to ₩64,500. That does not include transport or any arcade play.

We were out for about 3 hours 10 minutes. I arrived at 19:00 and headed home around 22:10.

Opening details checked on 9 October 2026. Holiday hours and temporary closures can differ from the regular schedule.

  1. Start

    Start at Jungang Station

I arrived at Jungang Station in Ansan at 19:00 with a friend. Dinner was only a short walk away.

  2. Arrived

    Dinner at Wonju Tongdak

I reached Wonju Tongdak at 19:08. We ordered half-and-half fried chicken and 2 litres of draft beer for ₩37,000 altogether.

Opening details: Tue–Sun 17:00–01:00 the next day. Closed Monday. Check latest details

The platter had both plain fried pieces and sauce-coated pieces, so we could share the half-and-half order. I enjoyed the chicken, and the generous portion made this a good dinner stop before going elsewhere for another drink. The small dining room and tables gave it a straightforward neighborhood-restaurant feel. We kept it to draft beer on this weekday visit.

  3. Arrived

Walk the bright streets and spot the arcades

I reached the main streets near Jungang Station at 20:25. Even on a weekday evening, the lights, shops and people made the area feel busy.

Opening details: An outdoor street walk; individual shops and arcades have their own opening hours. Find nearby arcades

I passed arcades and claw machines along the way. Bright signs lined the street, and one arcade had a colorful ceiling that stood out as we walked past. I only looked around this time: I’ve spent too much on claw machines recently, so I’m holding back. I’ve been going to arcades since I was 12, and Tekken is the game I’d recommend. If you’re choosing an arcade game, that’s my pick.

  4. Arrived

    Second round at Saengmacha

I arrived at Saengmacha Ansan Jungang at 20:35. We had draft beers and chicken-heart skewers; our bill here was ₩23,600.

Opening details: Sun–Thu 17:00–03:00 the next day; Fri–Sat 17:00–05:00 the next day. Last orders at 02:00 and 04:00 respectively. Check latest details

The chicken-heart skewers were quite spicy to me, so I’d keep that in mind if you usually prefer milder food. I started with Asahi and later switched to Terra, which tasted creamy to me. The Japanese-style atmosphere was another part of the appeal: menu boards, simple tables and the change of setting made it feel different from our chicken dinner. I liked it as a second stop for drinks and a bite to eat.

  5. Arrived

Finish the food stops with ice cream

I stopped at Baskin-Robbins Ansan World at 21:25 and bought a single regular cone for ₩3,900.

Opening details: Sun–Thu 10:00–01:00 the next day; Fri–Sat 10:00–04:00 the next day. The shop is on the first floor of Unam Plaza at 49 Gojan 1-gil, Danwon-gu, Ansan. Check latest details

I stopped for ice cream after drinks.

Ice cream tasted especially good after the beer. I liked having a sweet stop before we moved away from the restaurant streets and toward the stream. A single cone kept this part of the route simple; it did not need to become another full sit-down stop.

  6. Arrived

    Walk toward Ansancheon Stream

I reached the Ansancheon area at 21:45. The route took me past older buildings and a tree-lined stretch of sidewalk.

Opening details: An outdoor walking stop, rather than a ticketed attraction. Check local notices for access changes. Open the stream map

The older buildings along the way were part of what I liked about this walk. After the bright restaurant streets, the tree-lined stretch and stream gave us a different backdrop for the end of the evening. I’d bring out my camera for the buildings as well as the water, rather than treating this as only the walk back to the station.

  7. About · end

    Head home

I headed home around 22:10, about 3 hours and 10 minutes after I arrived at Jungang Station.

My take

4.5 / 5

Chicken, beer, lively streets and a walk by the stream made for a good night out with a friend.

I’d happily do this route again. If I go again, I’ll also try exploring the area during the day.

Would I recommend this route? Yes, especially for a weeknight with a friend: dinner, another round of drinks and a walk to finish.
